Dear Parent/Carer,
The corridors were so very quiet on Monday during our Inset day which focused on Unlocking Potential of all students. We couldn’t wait to have our students back with us on Tuesday and thankfully, the school now feels like a school once more. We have enjoyed a wonderful first week back. The students have returned upbeat, optimistic and ready to go! The Y10s have been superb ambassadors in supporting the transition of our Y7 students who have made such a positive and fantastic start to the new academic year. Our Y11 Student Leaders have been out and about before school and during social times talking with students and bringing the whole school community together, regardless of year groups. We couldn’t ask for a better start to the school year.
Celebration of Y11 GCSE Results
Last year we tasked our Y11 students in shaping a greater future, not only for themselves, but as a collective year group. We asked them to dig deep and dream the impossible when looking to fulfil their potential and they did just that. In return, they have produced a mighty set of results. These have allowed them to access the next stages of their individual journeys and have also shown the rest of the school what is possible when you are a student at Cirencester Kingshill. Cohort 2025 are already eager to raise the bar even higher in their results and so the legacy will continue... Thank you and congratulations Cohort 2024 – you did it and you did it in style!
Assemblies
We held assemblies for all 5 year groups on Tuesday morning and alongside the Head of Year and myself, we set the ambitious and positive tone for the rest of this academic year. Mr Ryder, now our Lead Practitioner to develop our Behaviours Culture as well as being Head of Year for Y8, also spoke to the students about a few changes we are implementing to our reward and sanction systems. We want to do much more rewarding and to be able to share this more quickly with you as parents and equally, we want to ensure we have a fair and consistent behaviour system across the school. More to come in the following newsletters and parent events as we will be sharing with you how to access the progress of your child from home on a daily basis.
Uniform & Equipment
Thank you for all your support in ensuring the students arrive smart and ready for the school day. We would further welcome your help on reminding your young person to take responsibility for following the school rules regarding not rolling blazer sleeves, trousers or skirt waistbands.
Over the summer we have invested in new water stations and have emphasised the need for each student to have a reusable water bottle to help them stay hydrated throughout the day.
Open Evening: Thursday 19th September
We are looking forward to showcasing our school to potential prospective students on this evening. In order for us to prepare fully for the event, we will be closing the school at 1.20pm. For those students taking the bus, we will be in contact very soon. Students eligible for FSM will receive additional information to ensure they have access to lunch on the day.
Digital Strategy Updates
We have been extremely busy recently rolling out our plans to modernise the school and ensure consistency and clarity with everything we do. Below are just some of the recent updates, with more to come throughout the year.
Interactive Panels- Over the Summer we have upgraded all our classroom AV systems by installing 75” interactive panels in all classrooms. These smart displays will allow for more innovative approaches to learning in the coming future.
Edulink App- Next week, we will be launching the Edulink app for students. This is our online information platform that will allow students to see their attendance, behaviour totals and most importantly Homework. All homework this year will be shared through Edulink from now, meaning only one platform will be needed to monitor all the important information you need from day to day, both inside and outside of school. We will be sending out further communication and logins for parents the following week (WC 16th September).
Year 10, ‘Welcome to Key Stage 4 Information Evening’ Wed 11th September
Mr Morland has written to parents of all Year 10 students regarding this event which is intended to support an understanding of both the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead in the next two years and of how as parents, staff and students, we can all help to support the early foundations of success. Please do access this link to ensure quick registration for this important event.
Year 11 Study Skills Evening
It is an exciting and important year ahead for our new Year 11 and to ensure they have the right tools and support we are running a Year 11 Study Skills Evening on Thursday 12th September from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the school dining hall. We will share practical tips and strategies that can help students organise their revision effectively and improve their retention of information as they approach their exams. All Year 11 parents and students are encouraged to attend. Registering for this event is very simple and can be completed by following this link. We look forward to seeing you there.
