Dear Parent/Carer,
Another week has whizzed by, and it was a week which we all wanted to last so much longer to enjoy more of the final moments with our fabulous Y11 students. Without question they have been exceptional until the very, very end. We asked them to fully commit to their science exam this morning – no noise before 11am was the instruction. No noise was heard until 11am. But then, my goodness, did they let us know they were ready to celebrate! We enjoyed a heartfelt assembly before ice creams, flares, shirt signing and noise on the field. We invited the whole school out onto the field to say farewell in a guard of honour and in turn for their total respect given to our Y11s, they were all rewarded with Fast Track Friday!
Our Y11s are flooded with the most magnificent role models both for our students and also our community – watch this space – they are destined for greatness!
On Wednesday, our Y10 student leaders, already stepping up with increased confidence and authority, were phenomenal in supporting a new video that is being created about our school for our students and staff which will be used in September and beyond.
We held our House Mathletics competition on Thursday morning – the non-mathematicians amongst us were left astounded by the skill of our students. Read on below to find out the winning House...
Finally, the news we have all been waiting for (drum roll, please....) our Ofsted report is in! The report will be sent to you via ParentMail in advance of it being published live for all to see in 5 days time. I urge you to sit back, relax and enjoy the read. You will see that they have captured the essence of our school perfectly – we are delighted.
House Mathletics Final
In what was a mightily contested House Mathletics Final, our ultimate winners came from Neptune who both managed to answer the final question with precisely the same speed!
Huge congratulations to Finn and Callum, pictured here with their very proud House Leader, Miss Acock, for correctly working out the final equation:
a 770 b. 750 c. 760 d.740
Even more impressively, an additional well-done to Finn, who in a final eliminator round created by our Head of Maths, Mr Edwards, managed to correctly answer the question: What is the 5th triangle number? With the answer being 15.
Well done to all those who participated.
Rotary Competition
Two of our students found success in the Rotary Young Photographer Competition. Poppy won 1st place in the Key Stage 3 category with her humorous and striking image—an imaginative and joyful take that made the judges smile. Ettie was awarded 2nd place in the Key Stage 4 category for her subtle and captivating portrait —an image praised for its beauty, depth, and quiet power. We’re incredibly proud of both students for their ambitious creativity and talent.
Induction Videos
Last week, we welcomed our videographer on site to create induction videos for our incoming Year 6 students and new staff joining us in September. These videos are designed to give a warm, informative introduction to life at Kingshill—and we had some fantastic help in making them! Our Year 10 students really stepped up, showing confidence, maturity, and school spirit as they supported the filming process. Whether filming on camera, recording voice overs or helping behind the scenes, they were brilliant ambassadors for the school. We’re so proud of the way they represented Kingshill and can’t wait to see what they’ll bring as Year 11 leaders next year!
A comfortable victory in the first round of the County Cup!
On Monday 9th June, our Under 15’s boys Cricket team defeated Deer Park by 9 wickets in the first round of the County Cup. The game, played at Deer Park saw Deer Park score 86 all out in 18.3 overs and in response, we chased down the target, finishing on 87-1 in 11.3 overs.
Despite an excellent start to their innings, Deer Park were unable to build on that as both Benji N and Callum L lead the way with excellent spells. I was particularly pleased with our fielding, and this was epitomised by Fraser not allowing a single bye in the entire innings.
Our run chase started quickly and after four overs we were 33-0 with both Josh P and Harry K manoeuvring the ball into the gaps and taking comfortable singles, when not hitting fours. Olly R-S joined Harry after 7 overs when Josh was caught on the boundary attempting to hit another six and thankfully our innings continued in the same vein with Harry finishing on (45*) and Olly on (9*).
We now move into the Quarter finals and will look to replicate our achievements from two years ago by reaching the final. Hopefully this time, we will take home the silverware!

Double Success at DataFace Competition
We are thrilled to share that Cirencester Kingshill School not only secured first place in the regional DataFace competition, but also celebrated a very special staff achievement: Mr Karunaratne, Faculty Leader of Computer Science, ICT and Enterprise, was awarded the prestigious CyberFirst Outstanding Teacher of the Year!
Alongside the students’ success, Mr Karunaratne was recognised for his exceptional dedication to teaching, innovation in the classroom, and his efforts to inspire young people in the field of computing and data science. The award is a well-deserved tribute to his work in preparing the DataFace team and teaching across the subject. This dual achievement reflects both the talent of our students and the commitment of our staff—something we are incredibly proud to celebrate.
Year 9 Rounders Team Shine at District Tournament
Our Year 9 girls were full of excitement and determination as they headed to the district rounders tournament at Archway. Their commitment to training over the past few weeks really showed, with every player confident in their role on the team. They made a strong start, showing tight fielding and powerful batting, and narrowly missed out on a win against SHS by just 1½ rounders. Although the next two matches didn’t go our way, the team finished on a high with a well-earned victory in the final game.
Opposing teams voted for our standout players, with Megan I earning an impressive three nominations. Isobella S and Rosie G followed closely with two nominations each, and Isla H also received recognition with one nomination.
Well done to the whole team for their hard work, great teamwork, and fantastic attitude throughout the tournament!
Kingshill U13 Cricket Team Narrowly Miss Out in Thrilling County Cup Quarter Final
On Tuesday, our U13 cricket team faced a challenging game in the County Cup quarter final against a strong Cotswold School side. Kingshill batted first and set a very competitive target, finishing at 127 for 2 wickets. Harry J powered through with an impressive 49 not out, while Dan P contributed a steady 38 not out, forming a partnership of over 100 runs that showcased our team's pride and determination.
In response, Kingshill’s bowlers bowled with passion and discipline. James W was outstanding, claiming 3 wickets, while Sid J delivered a brilliant opening spell taking 2 wickets, in the first 8 overs. Despite their best efforts, Cotswold School fought back valiantly, chasing down the target in a nail-biting finish. With only two wickets remaining, Cotswold scored the winning runs on the last ball, sealing a narrow victory by just one run.
This match was a testament to the resilience and sportsmanship that Kingshill values so highly. Their efforts showed real ambition to succeed with a desire to get what could have been considered an unlikely victory at the start of the game. Though the result was heartbreaking, the team’s pride in their performance and respect for their opponents shone through. We congratulate Cotswold School on their hard-fought win and wish them the best of luck in the semi-finals of the competition.
Our players showed incredible spirit, and moments like these inspire us all to keep aiming high and playing with integrity. Well done, team – a fantastic effort that we can all be proud of.

Rounders Report: Year 7 & 8 vs Farmor’s School
On Tuesday 10th June, our Year 7 and 8 rounders teams travelled to Farmor’s School for an exciting afternoon of matches. Despite narrow overall losses, both teams showed fantastic determination, teamwork, and progress.
Year 7 narrowly lost by 5 rounders but won the second innings thanks to improved fielding and smart batting, with Grace and Chloe standing out. Anastasia earned the Fielding Award for her control under pressure.
Year 8 also lost by 5 rounders but delivered a strong first innings and confident batting throughout. Special mention goes to Seraphina for her all-round performance, and to super subs Taya and Isla, who made a great impact. The return of Emily and Lexi brought valuable stability in the field.
Both teams represented Kingshill brilliantly and gained valuable experience ahead of future tournaments.
Maddox’s Mile-a-Day Challenge for Sport Relief
We love hearing about the achievements of our students outside of school—especially when they show determination and a commitment to building character. Maddox in Year 7 has taken on a brilliant self-motivated challenge: running a mile every day throughout June to raise money for Sport Relief. He’s been out each evening after school, showing great resilience and drive. A few parents have quietly shared how proud they are of his independence—and we couldn’t agree more.
If you’d like to donate to his cause, you can do so by clicking here. Well done, Maddox! You’re a fantastic example of how small actions can make a big impact.
