Dear Parent/Carer,
Our penultimate week of school has been extraordinary. All of our spirits have been lifted by the inaugural House assemblies, I shall say no more and leave it to Mr Morland to explain further.
Our Houses!
We were excited to launch our newly formed Houses throughout this week through a ‘House-reveal’, led by myself and Mr Thomas who has oversight of each of the Houses.
The idea behind our House structure is to bring together tutor groups from across different year groups into their own community as part of the wider Kingshill family. Every member of our school staff and each of our Trustees has also been allocated to a House. The intention is that alongside developing a sense of increased identity and belonging, there will also be the opportunity to develop competitions between the Houses. Based on a popular consensus in our voting system, the Houses have been named after Roman Gods to reflect our links to the history of Cirencester’s Roman heritage. Below, you can read more about the vision of each of our Houses in the words of our newly appointed House Leaders!

Christmas Concert
On Monday evening, the parish church in Cirencester came alive with the sound of incredible talent at the Kingshill Christmas Concert. The event was a heart warming celebration of music and community, fostering the true spirit of Christmas for all who attended.
A special thank you to the Friends of Kingshill School, whose hot drinks and festive treats added an extra touch of warmth to the evening.
Well done to all the performers for their outstanding contributions and to everyone who supported and took part in this magical event. What a beautiful way to usher in the holiday season!
First Production Meeting
What an incredible start! Our first production meeting for We Will Rock You had a full house, and the energy in the room was electric. We're thrilled by the enthusiasm and can't wait to see the continued involvement as we bring this exciting show to life. Stay tuned for more updates—this is just the beginning of an unforgettable journey!
Sports Awards Evening
On Thursday 5th December, the PE Faculty hosted our annual Sports Awards Evening celebrating the schools sporting achievements throughout the previous school year (2023/24). Over 160 awards were presented, in front of an audience of over 350 pupils, parents and guests.
Award categories included Outstanding Achievement and Exceptional Sporting Spirit within our school teams and competitions, and High Achiever within sporting activities we are unable to offer through school opportunities.
The evening focused on the ‘Power of a Positive Sporting Journey’. Great Britain Para Athlete Ben Gallagher, Indoor Rowing World Champion, presented the awards. Ben spoke openly about his journey and unbelievable successes through sport, despite the adversities he has faced following a life changing injury that occurred whilst serving in the British Army. His story and message proved truly inspiring and engaging.
Mr Hamblin (Head of Physical Education) reminded us of the importance of having a positive attitude towards sport and was proud to present a summary of the various sporting achievements and developments.
‘Our most valuable lessons often occur during the emotion of engaging in activity and by simply being part of the ‘game’ helps us develop our competence, confidence, competitiveness and most importantly our character, to ultimately become the best possible versions of ourselves.’
Olly S, in Year 10, also spoke about his amazing journey as he progresses through Southampton’s Premier League Football Academy – Olly is a real inspiration to us all and we wish him continued success.
The Team of the Year award was won by the Year 10 Boys Football Team who made the County semi-final and won the District Cup too, avenging their loss in the Final the previous year. Jasper P-S (Y11) and Meghan P (Y11) won the KS4 Awards, Josh R (Y11) received the Leadership Cup and Matt D (Y11) was honoured with the prestigious Sports College Plate. Mr Thomas (Physical Education Teacher) achieved the Sports Coach of the Year Shield for all his successes with teams in County and District Competitions, in both Football and Cricket, over the last few years.
The evening proved to be yet another successful event at Kingshill School.
Sports Activewear Fundraising
A big thank you to everyone who contributed to our Sports Activewear Day on Friday. Whether you donated your £1 for wearing activewear or supported the Staff vs. Students Benchball game, your kindness helped us raise an incredible £721.20.
This generous contribution will go directly to Ben Gallagher and his charity which has the ambition to support every young person have the opportunity to develop a positive relationship with sport, especially when faced with moments of adversity within their lives. Your support is truly making a difference, and you should be very proud of the compassion and generosity you’ve shown. Well done, Kingshill community!

Year 7 Christmas Disco
What a disco - what a Year group! This may have been our first celebration of a fantastic Year 7 cohort but it will most certainly not be the last. We danced, danced-off, partied and laughed like it was New Year's Eve in 1999! Has the Macarena ever been performed so well? And the gymnastics simply stole the show!
Many thanks to the Year 10 & Year 11 volunteers who stepped up to support this event, the Year 7 tutors who supported it, the Expressives team for the concept and help and the lovely ladies from our very own Friends of Kingshill who ran an amazing tuck shop. Year 7 -you are AMAZING!
Tri County Cross Country Success
Congratulations to Harry B and Joey B, who competed last weekend in the challenging Tri County Cross Country Championships in Bath, representing Swindon Harriers and Wiltshire. Despite the tough conditions, both boys performed brilliantly:
Harry finished 11th overall and 4th for Wiltshire
Joey finished 13th overall and an impressive 2nd for Wiltshire
The Tri County Championships bring together runners from Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, and Avon, making their achievements even more noteworthy. Well done, Harry and Joey—you’ve made Kingshill proud.
Closing Remarks
Next week we look forward to our Christmas lunch on Wednesday whilst wearing our Christmas jumpers (with home clothes) and our first whole school Christmas Quiz on Friday before we say farewell for the holidays. For now, I shall leave you all to ask your young person about which House they belong to and to encourage them to be a part of shaping the mottos and emblems of the Houses.
Enjoy a restful weekend.
