Dear Parent/Carer,
We have enjoyed a fabulous start to the final term. Our Y11s have continued to demonstrate enormous resilience and responsibility in the approach to their exams; attendance and attitudes to booster sessions has been fantastic – we are really looking forward to sharing their final day with us on Friday 13th June. Y10s are already stepping up and into the remarkable shoes of our Y11 students: on Wednesday we announced the student leadership team for 2025-2026 and what a team! The younger students are sure to benefit from the exceptional quality of our student leaders over the next academic year – their work already begins on Monday morning as they take on their duties before school and during social times. Some of our Y7s have been on visits to the library and a group attended the Cheltenham Science Festival. Always a pleasure to hear how well our students represent the school on the many visits they attend. A huge thank you to our Y8 students who organised our non-uniform day today, raising money for Multiple Sclerosis. The cake sale was an enormous hit and the rounders event was great fun! To reward their efforts and contribution to our school they gained access to our Fast Track Friday early lunch. And finally, one special mention to our amazing Y9 DataFace girls who bought back the winning trophy from Cheltenham on Monday having taken the top spot from Pate’s Grammar and Balcarras School!
New Student Leadership Team, 2025-26
Following a very rigorous and competitive application process, it was a real joy to be able to formally announce our new Student Leadership Team for the year ahead. After an opening message from our current Head Students, Bella and Matt, which alluded to them handing over the ‘baton of responsibility’, the students and their tutors in the Year 10 assembly were the first to see the structure of our new team who were rightly applauded.
It is a real testimony to the Year 10 cohort that so many of them showed their ambition in applying for these roles and beyond the success of the students listed here, there are so many others who are eager to step up in working alongside them in developing plans and projects for the year ahead. I will write more about our Y11 cohort after their Celebration Day next week, but they have been instrumental in developing the status of student leadership within the school and I have every confidence that our Year 10 students will step up to the challenge of developing things still further!
The DataFace Competition – Cheltenham Festivals and CyberFirst
A team of Year 9 students from Cirencester Kingshill School has won first place at the regional DataFace competition, organised by Cheltenham Festivals and CyberFirst. As part of the Computing curriculum, students analysed global datasets on real-world issues and created data visualisations to communicate their findings.
Our winning team—Eliza, Poppy, Evelynn, and Rozhina—focused on gender inequality across six countries, linking literacy and fertility rates to national happiness. Their thoughtful analysis and confident presentation secured them a place in the final showcase, where they impressed judges with their insight and teamwork.
Competing against ten other schools, including top grammar schools, the team proudly brought home the overall win—an achievement that highlights their creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Iceland
Early on Monday, 19th May, 52 very tired but excited Year 10's headed to the wonderful Island of Iceland- the land of fire and ice. We were spent 4 nights in the capital, Reykjavik, and adventured along the south coast from there. Over the 5 days, the Year 10's got to see some of amazing geographical features and exciting landscapes. These were combined with a heatwave in Iceland and so we had great weather and were able to get some great photographs. Some of the highlights of the trip included getting the ferry to the Westermann Islands (Vestmannaeyjar) to the island of Heimaey to climb a volcano. Students also got to see the first ever Geyser and stand on two tectonic plates. We saw lava fields from the 2024 eruption in the town of Grindavik. We hope that this has fueled a new interest in their GCSE Geography studies.
Munich
In May, 40 Year 10 students from Cirencester Kingshill School embarked on a memorable four-day history trip to Munich. The tour offered a powerful and engaging insight into Germany’s 20th-century history, exploring key sites connected to the rise of National Socialism and World War II.
After an early wake up call, the group began their visit with a walking tour of Munich, focusing on the city’s Nazi past. Highlights included Marienplatz and other historic locations tied to the Third Reich. Day two took the students to the impactful Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial, followed by a visit to the Viktualienmarkt in the afternoon, where there were sausage sandwiches and pretzels galore!
On day three, the group travelled to Nuremberg to explore the Nazi Party Rally Grounds and Documentation Centre, deepening their understanding of propaganda and totalitarianism. Students also enjoyed free time in the medieval old town and had the opportunity to do plenty of shopping!
The final day included a visit to the renowned Deutsches Museum where they enjoyed several floors of science-based exhibits, including the very popular optical illusion mirror on the physics floor. Students finished off the day with one final visit to the centre of Munich to get some lunch before we needed to start travelling back to the UK.
The trip was both educational and eye-opening, giving students a deeper appreciation of historical events and the importance of remembrance. Many returned with lasting memories and a renewed passion for history.
Year 10 Rounders Team Represent Kingshill with Pride
On Tuesday afternoon, the Year 10 rounders team competed in the District Tournament at Farmor’s School, delivering a series of determined and closely contested performances. Despite narrow defeats—including two matches lost by just half a rounder—the team demonstrated grit, skill and teamwork throughout.
Strong bowling from Lara F and Amity W, consistent backstop support from Isla B, and powerful batting led by Molly R were highlights across the tournament. Captain Sophie H-O showed excellent field awareness, while Harriet F, Erin M and others contributed with energy and commitment in key positions.
The squad played with great spirit and represented Kingshill with pride. Well done to all involved!
