Dear Parent/Carer,
It was wonderful to see our students in their summer uniform this week and although a little nippy in the mornings, the sun has been out in full force all week. We had the privilege of seeing the whole school gather together at the end of lunch on Tuesday for our Fire Drill. As always, the students were exemplary and to reward them for the responsibility taken, we have decided to hold a non-uniform day on Friday 11th April – more details below.
The sunshine has also helped our attendance further this week – we have reached 92% year-to-date and on one day this week, we hit 93%!
This week’s Fast Track Friday went to our brilliant Y11 students who secured the best behaviours this week. Next week, it’s over to the year group completing the most homework on time!
From Y7D performing in the assembly, Sports Leaders supporting at the primary school, Saturn lifting the Geoguesser trophy with Ethan B in Y10, Y9s out at Woodchester Mansions, careers talks and our Y11s enjoying a final ‘Hurrah’ in their own Sports Day, it has been a jam-packed week. Amidst this, the Y11 students have also been completing their practical exams in Fine Art and the rest of the school have been actively engaged in their learning. Visitors to the school have commented on the outstanding learning behaviours they have seen in lessons and the pride our students have for their work.
Cohort 2025
We may have already celebrated the success of our Year 11 students in their mock interviews in our newsletter last week, but we thought you may like to get a sense of how smart they looked in the year group photograph below!
In addition to this, we were also delighted to have received such positive feedback from local employers which you may have seen over social media in recent days!
7D Assembly
Monday saw 7D take their turn at leading the Year group assembly and they did a fine job in both narrating and acting out the story of Prometheus and how he angered Zeus by stealing fire for man. Zeus punished him severely by chaining him to a rock and sent an Eagle each day to peck and eat at Prometheus.
The moral of how we must use our given wisdom and technology for good to build a better world for generations to come was not lost on the audience and staff who enjoyed the performance enormously. Well done 7D!
How Marketing & Fundraising Drive Charity Impact – Careers Talk
On Monday morning, students gathered in the library for an insightful career talk about working for a charity. The speaker shared valuable information about the rewarding opportunities in the charity sector and the qualifications needed to pursue this career path, such as qualifications in Marketing, Business, Accounting, and Charity Management.
Key skills for success in this field include strong planning and budgeting abilities, teamwork, and an understanding of cultural differences. The speaker emphasised that working in the charity sector is not just about a job, but about "wanting to be part of something much bigger" and contributing to a cause that inspires and makes a difference.
It was a fantastic session that helped students understand how they can combine their interests and skills to pursue a meaningful career in this inspiring sector.

Lunchtime Concert
A massive well done and thank you to our amazing performers in this term’s Lunchtime Concert! Matthew, Anabelle, and Kacper have performed in every concert so far—it shows great Pride, Ambition, and Resilience to keep coming back (we think they secretly enjoy it!).
Well done to Isla, who showed great Resilience in her first performance. A big well done to Poppy for demonstrating Kindness and supporting her nervous friend.
Helen and Maisy arrived suited and booted—thank you for dressing up for the occasion! (One of the perks of having the concert on Interview Day.)
The next concert is set for May 23rd, just two days before Mr. Ashby’s birthday, and he would love nothing more than to see even more incredible performances from our talented students.
Thank you and see you soon!

Team Win to Qualify for County Finals
The U15 (Year 9/10) Indoor Cricket Team won their preliminary County Cup round of matches against Leckhampton High and Churchdown School, on Monday 31st March.
In our first game against Churchdown, Kingshill scored an outstanding 96/4 from 5 overs and then fielded superbly bowling the opposition out for 26. Special mention goes to Harry K who bowled a three wicket maiden!
In the final game Kingshill faced a competent Leckhampton team, who scored 37 runs from their 5 overs. Entering the innings with confidence following our previous batting performance, we dually started on the front foot and Josh P hit the winning runs in style with a 6. This took our total to 41-2 from 2.5 overs.
Once again, the teams’ pride and responsibility in the field shone through and we started the defence of our County Indoor Cricket title from last year in perfect style! Josh P and Callum L captained the team with poise and were helped throughout by our Head Boy Matt D who is their assistant coach this year.
The team have now qualified for the County Finals in a few weeks' time.
With the U13s also winning their preliminary round of games last week, we once again have two Cricket teams in the County Indoor finals.
U15 Team: Matt D (Coach), Josh P (C), Olly R-S, Fraser L (WK), Harry K, Billy L, Wilf J and Callum L (C).
Swimathon Student Success
We are delighted to share the inspiring achievement of Cameron, who recently took part in the Swimathon event at Cirencester Leisure Centre, pushing himself to complete an epic 5k swim—a staggering 200 lengths! In an incredible display of endurance, he even finished with a butterfly stroke after two hours of continuous swimming.
Cameron was the youngest participant in the 5k event and, in doing so, raised nearly £300 for Cancer Research UK and the Swimathon Foundation, which helps provide swimming lessons to children from all backgrounds.
When we spoke to Cameron to congratulate him, he remained as modest as ever, but his classmates were in awe of his achievement, and rightly so. Well done, Cameron—you have made us all incredibly proud!
Next Friday
Last week, our students demonstrated outstanding responsibility and cooperation during our fire drill, which took place at the end of lunchtime. Despite the timing, they responded quickly, followed instructions, and showed great awareness of safety procedures.
As a well-earned reward, we’re excited to announce a non-uniform day! This is just one of the fun activities we have planned for next week as we gear up for the Easter break. We can’t wait to celebrate!
